I started out at the Rec Center in 2006 as a seasonal soccer official. I officiated for about 2 years and then I decided to become an Ice Guard in the ice rink during the winter of my senior year of high school. I was an Ice guard and soccer official until I graduated college. During school I took a facility/event management internship with the New York Islanders. I lived on Long Island for the summer and I came back a few weeks before the start of my senior year. I graduated with a degree in Sports Management with concentrations in Sports Marketing and Athletic Administration. I was offered a job in New York from the Islanders but turned it down due to certain circumstances. I was then offered the positions of baseball/softball supervisor and Ice Rink Manager for the 2013-2014 year here at the rec. I worked at the rec throughout college and I realized I wanted to stay in the recreation field instead of going into professional sports. There became a full time position opening at the rec when an employee left unexpectedly. I interviewed for the job and got it. I had put in 8 years of part time work and it finally paid off. It really taught me patience and that timing is everything. I am now the new [email protected] for the Fremont Recreation Department.
