This has been a very interesting and amazing learning experience. I felt like everyday I learned something new about the Rec Center or the city. The one aspect that I feel helped me the most in my personal development would either be creating the program and it being successful or helping out with rec camp. These two areas helped me gain an additional resume builder plus helped me step out of my comfort zone by doing something I have never done before, like running a kids camp. The one aspect that relates most to my studies was facility management class. I believe this helped me inform people within the organization that it is better to utilize every space within the organization to become more profitable. An example is the ice rink. I suggested they hold roller hockey in the summer since that space is hardly used during the summer!
I had a great supervisor. It helped we are close to the same age and knew each other prior to the internship, but he helped me out with anything I had a question with. With that said, I would also say the communication was fantastic.
As much fun I have had and the amount of stuff I have learned, my objective is still to work for a professional baseball club in the future. It may be tough to break into, but it will always be where I want to end up!
If other students were to take this job, I would tell them that they better have a lot of time on their hand. I wish that I could have spent more time at the organization because I feel there was still more to learn. That would be the number one thing---TIME. I would also encourage the person to have a lot of patience because one day it could be super busy and your doing a lot of work and the next day it could be really slow. Also, you may have to work long hours. If none of these affect the person wanting a job with them, they will be completely fine, plus the staff there was a blessing to work with.
