The first day of my internship was quite the experience. It was the first time I have been at a "new" job in over two years. Fremont Parks and Recreation is located in Fremont, Ohio. To be more specific, they are located at 600 Saint Joseph Street. Its location is right in the middle of a big park area. There are three shelters, two kids parks, a basketball court, two sand volleyball fields and a lot of trees for shade. They are also located right next to a railroad track, and on the other side of the railroad track is a 15-mile scenic bike trail. I utilized this trail a lot on my time off! I was asked to show up at 10am on my first day. I was asked to show up in casual work clothes; so, I showed up in a nice polo and khaki shorts. Right from the moment I walked through the door I felt welcomed. Pam, the front desk attendant, greeted me as I came in and was enthused to hear that they were having an intern the next few months. I was then introduced to most of the full-time staff and the Rec Camp supervisors. Molly, the recreation superintendent, directed me then to read all of their forms at the front desk to better familiarize myself with the programs upcoming and rules. I was then expected to spend a couple hours at the front desk with Pam to learn her role within the facility. This was something I was very familiar with. She has a lot to do with the customer service side of the Facility. She greets the people as they come in, answers any questions they have, answers the phone, and sets up new memberships. These were all things I learned from observing and taking part in her jub functions over the first couple of days. I was then introduced to Josh McAfee, who was going to be my main supervisor throughout my internship. I spent the first couple days helping him with anything he needed to be assisted with. He gave me a tour of the facility, introduced me to more of the staff and we planned out the team-building activities that we would be participating in with the Camp Fearless kids. We picked out several activities that we would be doing, found the correct supplies and prepared them for Wednesday. This was how most of my first two days were. It was a lot of learning and observing to know what has to be done.
