The next big project of mine was to create my first program for the Rec. This was very difficult to pull off since I was going to have to pull it off within a month. I spent a lot of this ten hours doing research on what to do. The two programs I came up with was kickball and ultimate Frisbee. When I brought this up to Josh, he said that he was thinking kickball for his program he was going to put on already and that I could try to pull off ultimate Frisbee. I had to then decide when I wanted it to start, what time it would begin, where it would take place, if it would cost anything, and what days. These were fairly tough decisions to make. I decided to start it on July 21 on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:00 PM. I also decided that we would have it take place in the field by the tennis courts. Then, I decided that I was going to offer the program for free since there had been no previous program that was similar. The planning part was finally over. I also did my research on the game and started creating rules for the program.
The new thing that I learned this week is that starting a new program takes a lot of research and is very time consuming. A lot of the time I was really stressed because I didn't know how it would turn out. The one improvement that I think needs to be made at the Rec is creating many more programs in this time frame because there just was not a lot going on other than baseball/softball games. I think that Josh and I were already starting that process by introducing two more programs to the Fremont area with kickball and Frisbee.
